Edward Evanko, newly ordained to the priesthood in the Ukrainian Catholic Byzantine Church, was called to the priesthood a mere seven years ago. And already, in addition to being a parish priest, he has discovered his ‘call within a call’. This second call is to deepen people’s faith, to encourage others to enter the religious life, and to present evidence of extreme heroism in the service of others.
Thus far his dramatic presentations of the life of a selfless missionary to the lepers, and of the horrific sufferings of survivors of the Genocide in Ukraine of 1932-1933, have engrossed and enlightened audiences in many countries. He has been able to seamlessly combine the skills and talents honed in his decades as an actor and singer with his more recently acquired knowledge of theology and liturgy and offer the fruits of this second call to people who seem to hunger for it.
More of this theatrical ministry is being planned even as you read this.

Damienby Aldyth MorrisThe words of Fr. Damien in the play by Aldyth Morris, reverberate with a special resonance for Edward Evanko. A man enters the religious life in answer to a “call”. Later if he’s lucky, he receives a “call within a call”, he finds the niche that he was meant to fill.
